Why buying good quality uniform lasts longer

When buying clothing, we often look for good deals and cheap prices. The same is true when shopping for school uniform. However, did you know cheaper doesn’t always mean better?
At Price and Buckland, we pride ourselves on good quality uniform that is built to last, day in day out. In this blog, we will go through how buying good quality uniform not only lasts longer but is more cost effective and more sustainable for the environment.
Why does good quality uniform last longer?
Good quality uniform consists of better-quality materials that will keep your garments “like new” for much longer compared to cheaper alternatives. This ensures garments are more durable and hardwearing for everything your child may throw at it in the school day, meaning your child will look the part from the first day of the school year to the last.
As we manufacture most of our garments in our factory in India, we can source the best quality fabrics, threads, and accessories ourselves, ensuring the highest quality possible for reasonable prices.

How is it more cost effective?
The cost of good quality uniform may be off putting for some parents, and it may be more appealing to go with some of the cheaper options on the market. Where this may feel like you are getting a better deal for your money. However cheaper alternatives are often made with cheaper materials that won’t last as long. This means you will have to purchase the same garment multiple times due to wear and tear.
If your child is a little monkey and constantly comes home with ripped or scuffed trousers after a day full of rough play, the cost soon builds up if you’re constantly having to buy replacements. Investing in better quality uniform, although potentially more expensive initially, spreads your pennies further as you don't need to purchase as much throughout the year.
All our fabrics are thoroughly tested by Bureau Vertitas, a world leader in testing, inspection, and certification, to give you peace of mind our garments will stand up to the rigours of school life.

How is it more sustainable?
As better-quality uniform lasts longer, it reduces the need to purchase garments more often leading to less unnecessary waste. Old uniform’s that are no longer needed but are still high quality have the potential to be donated and reused by children whose parents may not be able to afford certain garments or entire uniforms. This gives a new lease of life to garments which would normally be discarded and encourages an eco-mindset to reuse and recycle, which can be applied to other areas of day-to-day life
In addition to providing longer lasting uniform & sportswear, Price & Buckland started manufacturing a range of garments using eco fabrics made from recycled plastic bottles in 2020, helping retailers, schools, parents, and their children make a positive difference to the environment. With every purchase of our eco-garments you help reduce the amount of plastic pollution that is plaguing our planet. Over 750,000 plastic bottles were saved from landfill last year alone.
