My Work Experience in Marketing & Media – Josh (16)
About the Placement
I completed my work experience at Price & Buckland Ltd, a leading supplier of school uniforms in the UK. I spent time with the marketing, design and production teams, gaining an insight into how their creative content is produced and used across both digital and print. Staff at Price & Buckland were very friendly and helpful. I shadowed the role of others in the environment of marketing, seeing what happens behind the scenes.
My day-to-Day activities
During my Placement, I was involved in a variety of tasks, including:

✅ Filming and photographing products
✅ Learning how to advertise professional products
✅ Learning about different print materials
✅ Supporting the team with daily tasks
Workshops / Working Environments
From the photography studio, I got to see how creative ideas come to life. I observed and assisted staff members in photography sessions, producing high-quality photos used for advertising online. I worked in a calm environment around staff who specialise in marketing and content production. This helped me a lot in terms of work and tasks set.
Tasks were simple and straightforward, being solved and broken down easily. I've learnt all about the different types of marketing and communication methods used to advertise social media content. I assisted in video and flyer productions/campaigns, and had the opportunity to build an email campaign and create social media content for Price & Buckland Ltd. This was something I found really interesting and fun to do.
Conclusion
Throughout my work experience placement, I developed many valuable skills and personal qualities. I improved my ability to use my own initiative by carrying out tasks independently and contribute ideas where possible. My creativity developed through the photography sessions with James & Ellis from the marketing team, as well as my blog creation and media and marketing activities with Laura. I also enhanced my communication skills by speaking with staff members and working with others during different tasks and activities.
My confidence increased through my placement as I became more comfortable taking part in activities and sharing ideas with different people in the Price & Buckland marketing team. Teamwork was another important skill I developed, as I worked alongside others and learned the importance of working together in a team environment effectively and supporting team members to achieve a shared goal.
Overall, my work experience placement helped me achieve many targets and goals I set before starting my work experience placement. It has provided me with a practical experience in the media and marketing industry. I would consider marketing as a future career because I enjoy the creative and digital aspects of this role. This placement gave me a valuable experience and helped me develop skills that I can use in future education and employment opportunities.

It was a pleasure to have Josh complete his work experience with the Marketing team at Price & Buckland.
